3 Ways to Handle Stress this Holiday Season

Women handle stress differently. It isn’t just a mental thing. Over the holidays, we can hold on to stress in our thoughts, our joints, our muscles, our midsections, pretty much all over our bodies. At Total Health, we like to set realistic expectations. We get that our clients have busy lives, and this holiday season is no exception. It would be ridiculous to tell you to just “stop stressing!” But here’s what I can do. I’ve compiled my best tips for total body stress-relief and effective self-care. Challenge yourself to try something new this month to stay stress-free and have a healthy and happy holiday season.

Treat Yourself

It can be hard to resist all of the delicious smells and flavors of the holiday season. We get it! At Total Health, I am all for treating yourself! Health should be a lifestyle, not a list of things you can’t eat or do; because that’s not practical.

I also like to remind my patient that sweet and salty treats are not the only ways we can pamper ourselves and reduce our stress levels. I can design an entire anti-aging, rejuvenating, and stress reduction treatment plan that’s unique to your needs.


The holidays tend to be full of surprises. Plan ahead and commit to specific days and times for all of the necessities, shopping, working out, baking, and other traditions. The research is in, ladies! A consistent exercise routine is essential for supporting a healthy mind, body, and spirit. It doesn’t take a lot to start getting amazing health benefits. Just commit to 30 minutes a day of moderate exercises like a walk around the park or a jog around your neighborhood.

Track Your Spending

The things in life that matter most, like our health and our happiness, can’t be bought. Ironically, families tend to overspend over the holidays in an effort to spread the love. Financial woes don’t only chip away at our bank account; it can also raise our stress levels and negatively impact our health. Do yourself a favor and decide how much money you can afford to spend before you start gift and food shopping. Then, stick to it! It’s that simple.
