Recently, I returned from a fabulous vacation with my mother and two teenage daughters. We were in Antigua at the Blue Waters Resort enjoying a living wellness retreat, and I must tell you, what an invigorating experience that I will gladly repeat! I returned feeling full of energy and my body is tighter and more toned after my workouts with my wonderful trainers, Kristin and Fatima. Not only did they help me focus on physical exercise, but we also discussed healthy lifestyle habits that I will share with you in a moment.

When I first met Kristin and Fatima, I asked, “Do you eat?!” They practically had zero body fat! They reassured me that, yes, they do eat; they simply choose healthy foods to fuel their bodies with.

Out of curiosity, I asked them to give me their 5 best tips to help someone lose weight, and I’m going to share them with you today:

  1. Mix cardio with weight training
  2. Circuit train by performing 45 second intervals of each station
  3. Eliminate alcohol
  4. Eat frequent meals throughout the day
  5. Decrease sugar intake

Incorporate these easy nutrition and lifestyle tips into your daily regime and very soon, you’ll see and feel wonderful changes in your body!

I’ve included a few more tips that you can easily adapt into your lifestyle over time.

  1. Eliminate sugar, soda and energy drinks, fruit juices, deep fried foods, and processed and fast foods.
  2. Include protein at every meal and snack.
  3. Consume fish 2-3 times per week to get healthy essential fatty acids which are delicious aids in releasing belly fat fast!
  4. Enjoy vegetables/salads at every meal and snack as they are low in calories yet high in nutrients.
  5. Limit fruits to once or twice per day as even natural sugar can cause insulin spikes which leads to the creation of more fat.
  6. Limit your intake of grains – less carbs equals quicker results.
  7. Stop eating at least 2 hours before bedtime to burn more fat.
  8. Drink plenty of water and green tea throughout the day to increase your metabolism and flush out toxins.
  9. Take some time each day for yourself to relax: meditation, walking outdoors, yoga.
